The Diocese of Sindhudurg has more than 30 priests belonging to five different religious clerical congregations; they are mainly Salesians, Jesuits, OFM -Capuchins, MSFS, Precious Blood Missionaries and Poor Servants of the Divine Providence.
These priests immensely contribute towards the diocesan pastoral activities, especially in mission stations. Bearing in mind the contributions they can make to the synod 2021-2023, the diocese organised a training session for them at Navsarni Kendra on 4 November 2021. Priests from OFM Capuchins and MSFS attended the program.
Bishop Alwyn Barreto, along with Fr Alex D’mello, convener of the synod and Fr Cajetan Rodrigues were the resource persons for the program. The sessions comprised talks on the roadmap of the diocesan phase of consultation, synodality, interpretation of the synod and the role of the coordinators and the mode of consultation.
The next training program will be organised for religious women in the diocese on 6th November 2021 at Navsarni Kendra.
