On 12 October, the Medical Mission Sisters (MMS) of Sawantwadi organized a Covid-19 vaccination camp for the differently abled persons at Navsarni Pastoral Centre. Additionally, it was the second vaccine for the adult.
Sr Manisha Kolhe of the MMS said that the camp was possible with the support of Dr Uttam Patil of Cottage Hospital and the Panchayat Samiti Health Department.
The program began with a few games conducted for the children, along with some cultural activities. The animators and volunteers also taught the children papercraft.
The resource person, Vishakha Sawant, an animator with MMS, explained the dangers of COVID19 and advised on the precautions to be taken by each individual, such as the use of sanitisers, masks, and maintaining social distancing, and the importance of vaccines etc.
The program also focussed on advocacy of rights for the life of differently able especially their inclusive education, pensions, UDID (Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities) Card and other grass-root issues.
The program concluded with lunch and prize distribution for the games, including a vote of thanks.
