Milagris Cathedral celebrates youth and children’s day

On 14th Nov 2021, youth from 15 zones of Sawantwadi joined in the celebrations for the youth and children’s day. At the 9:30 AM Mass, a new logo and jersey were unveiled for the Milagris youth group. Parish Priest, Fr Milet D’souza, Director of the Youth Commission, Fr Melwin Pais, youth coordinator, Sr Kavita and youth-in charge Br Sul Almeida, inaugurated the event.

Fr Milet D’Souza encouraged the youth to contribute to the parish. He said that nothing can be equivalent to the splendour of youth. “To be young; that in itself is to possess a treasure of infinite worth far greater than, any person of power. It is the responsibility of the older generation to provide them with the right resources, guidance and a good environment so that they become strong change agents in the community.”  Mrs Lucy Peter Lobo was invited to motivate the youth and she spoke about how youth should walk with the church because today they are the future of it.  Prizes were distributed for the events conducted by the youth group and for their participation in Teacher’s Day and the feast of Our Lady of Rosary.

Thereafter, the youth along with Fr. Melvin Pais, Sr. Kavita and Bro. Sunil planned some forthcoming events like preparation for advent, crib making, Christmas celebrations, carol singing, tableau etc. The same evening, they visited Hodavda Chapel and celebrated Children’s Day with all the kids of the neighbourhood along with the youth and their parents. Vince Lombardi said, “There is only one way to succeed in anything and that is to give it everything, this we witness with our Milagris youth at Sawantwadi.”  Fr Milet, Fr Melwin Pais and Sr Kavita also released the newly designed logo and jersey for the youth.
