Fr Felix Lobo, parish priest of Rosary Church, Ajara, organised a catechetical session for the newly elected parish council members. Each zone of the parish had elected two members to the council. Fr Alex D’mello and Fr Amit D’Britto OFM Cap were invited as the resource team to present the two-hour session.
Fr Alex spoke to them about the importance of the laity in the life of the church. He invited them to own their responsibility in evangelisation. He spelt out their role in the council. He explained to them the statutes of the council, which was followed by a group discussion on various topics. Fr Alex D’mello also invited them to form a vision and mission statement for the parish. He also told them that they should be a bridge between the clergy and the laity. Fr Felix Lobo thanked everyone for their participation and concluded the session with a prayer.
