Youth convention organised by St Joseph Bhedshi

St Joseph Church, Bhedshi, had organised a youth convention on 6 and 7 November 2021. The theme for the event was ‘Youth are the Pillars of the Church’.  The program also included children.

The program started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Dodamarg Head Constable, Ms Nadab, Parish Priest Fr Franklin Bandia, Fr Melwin Paes, Director of the Sindhudurg Diocesan Youth Commission. Fr Amit D’Britto OFM Cap, Sr Alphonsa, Sr Sabina Dsouza, Br Sunil Almeida and Moses Fernandes, President of the youth group. This was followed by a short prayer service. Fr Anthony Fernandes, Fr Alwyn Gonsalves and Fr Cajetan Rodrigues were also the guests of honour.

Fr Allwyn Gonsalves, the assistant parish priest of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Malvan, delivered a short and inspiring message to the children; while the chief guest Head Constable, Ms Nadab presented a guided talk on career guidance and the law.

Fr Amit D’Britto OFM Cap spoke to the children about leadership qualities and Br Sunil Almeida emphasized how to become pillars of the church in today’s situation.  Fr Anthony Fernandes, the assistant parish priest of Immaculate Conception, Vengurla, spoke on the vocation to the priesthood and religious life. Fr Melwin Paes through various activities made the two day event a memorable one. Fr Amit D’Britto OFM Cap also spoke in detail about the synod and the role of youth in it.  The event concluded with a vote of thanks was given by Sr Sabina D’souza.
