Bishop Agnelo Pinheiro was born on 6 July, 1972, in Raia, Goa. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman on October 28, 2000. He holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Jnana Deepa Institute, Pune. He later earned a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.
On 14 February 2026, he was appointed as the Bishop of Sindhudurg by Pope Leo XIV. On 16 April 2026, He was ordained to the episcopate by Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão (Archbishop of Goa) and installed as the second Bishop of the diocese.
His apostolic motto is Fiat Voluntas Tua (Your Will be Done), which underpins his vision for his new ministry.
