ICYM Sindhudurg organises Vianney Cup 2022

The Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Sindhudurg Diocese organised the Vianney Cup 2022 in Navsarni Kendra grounds on 16 August 2022. It was a multi-game tournament comprising volleyball, football, dodgeball and throwball; more than 500 youth from over 10 parishes participated in the event.

The event was inaugurated by Bishop Alwyn Barreto; more than 20 priests and religious women joined in the event to encourage the youth.

The referees for the games were Mr Alvida and Mr CharuVengurlekar, Mr Amit Mishra and Fr Amit D’Britto Ofm Cap. The games began with the singing of the National Anthem and reciting of a pledge to maintain the spirit of the tournament by exercising good sportsmanship.

Throwball Tournament

Football Tournament

Volleyball Tournament

Winner: Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, Vengurla

Runner-up: Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Chinder

Dodgeball Tournament

Winner: Holy Family, Mangaon

Prize: Trophy and Rs 5000

Runner-up: Our Lady of Rosary, Kindla

In the concluding ceremony, Fr Melvin Pias thanked each and everyone for the support and encouragement. He also thanked the benefactors and donors who generally contributed towards the expenses of the tournament.
