On 2 October, the new Sindhudurg Diocesan Council of Priests (Senate Members) met in Navsarni Diocesan Pastoral Centre. This was the first official meeting of the Senate members.
In the meeting, Fr Alex D’Mello explained the statutes and the scope of the Diocesan Council of Priests.
Fr Alwyn Gonsalves was elected as the secretary of the Council of Priests and Fr Felix Lobo and Fr Sanjay Fernandes were elected to help in studying and providing the pastoral care for the people of the Diocese of Sindhudurg.
The members also asserted that the care for pastoral life of the people in the diocese of Sindhudurg was both vibrant and life-giving. As this body takes root, it will play an increasingly significant role in the ministry of the local Church.
